The first part of a three-part documentary on black metal can be seen at the end of this post.
The work of Noisey and Vice, the documentary’s called “One Man Metal,” and focuses on the reclusive likes of Leviathan (one of my favorites), Striborg and Xasthur.
“They exist on the fringes of black metal and rarely have been documented… until now,” says a press release.
Noisey follows the lives of these three enigmatic solo artists producing black metal on the margins of society. These are men who don’t just play the music but embody what it reflects: isolation, misanthropy, and anger.
Presented in sumptuous black and white, the documentary moves from Chicago, to Los Angeles and Tasmania, and includes the first on-camera with Scott Connor, a.k.a. Xasthur.
